Re- Entry Simulator

Hosted by Horizon Communities and the Florida Department of Corrections, this immersive, interactive event invites policymakers, justice professionals, and community leaders to step into the shoes of someone navigating life after incarceration. Through four fast-paced, 15-minute simulations—each representing one week post-release—participants will attempt to meet essential re-entry challenges, from securing housing and employment to complying with court mandates and accessing vital services. This experience highlights how unmet needs, limited resources, and systemic barriers can derail a person’s journey toward stability—and how effective policy, community support, and cross-sector collaboration can foster successful reintegration and reduce recidivism.
