L.A. native and now Bay-area-based songwriter Katie Costello recently dropped her fourth LP, Stereotype, and told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that the effort is about carving your own path and refusing to live by others. “I hope that when people hear it they feel permission to be themselves and break the mold of whatever stereotype they are confronting. I wanted to make a pop album for nonconformists, with anthems that speak to the experience of being an outsider and going on our own journey,” she added.—Ray Roa
