FS10 Gallery Talk with Gwen Mehler and Gillian Probert

Gwen Mehler’s work aims to highlight the beauty of nature by focusing on painting animals large scale, using bold colors and patterns in the style of a traditional portrait. Her objective is to spotlight the bird species included in the current list of threatened and endangered animals and to grow awareness and empathy for the nature surrounding our home and shared spaces. Gillian Probert’s carved glass vessels utilize nature motifs to convey deeper messages about human emotion, aiming to reflect significant aspects of the human experience through natural imagery. Gillian holds degrees in Visual Arts and Business from Eckerd College.
