If Dick Dale ever went punk, he’d push to collaborate with Daikaiju. The Alabama-based quartet remains as enigmatic as possible onstage—rocking kabuki masks and not saying a word every night—but will also light its instruments on fire, drum kit included. Its latest album Phase 3 is loaded with heavy licks and countless drum beats that make every drummer want to practice a little faster for an extra hour or so.
