2025MEMORIES, DREAMS, REFLECTIONS(MDR) 10 WEEK SEMINAR

Since its publication, after Jung’s death in 1961, MDR has been read and re- read both as a means to better understand Jung’s own individuation process, and, equally important, as a comprehensive treatment of the evolution of the eld of Analytical Psychology. In this 10-part lecture/intensive seminar, we will approach MDR as an ur-text in the eld of Jungian studies. Participants are expected to come to class prepared to discuss the assigned chapters. Upon enrollment, a bibliography of biographies of Jung, numbering now over 20, will be provided. Each par- ticipant will be encouraged to select at least one to read along with our pri- mary text. Barbara Hannah, one of the first generation Jungians who also has written a notable biography of Jung, has gone on record as having read MDR 60 times. My goal as your instructor is to provide an in-depth treatment of this text this one time around. If I do my job well, I promise you will be reading MDR yourself again and again.
